Windows 10: Couldn't Set Default App Save Location 0x80070005

Hello,

I want to change the default save location for Apps, but I keep getting this error code. I am using an administrator account and I have already declared that account the owner of both my desired drive as well as the appdata package folder. I am permitted to change the default save locations of every available option (documents, music, photos, videos etc.) except for apps. Which is the only one I care about im afraid. I dont know what to do anymore, every other thread seems to have just ended unresolved and Id like to avoid using an alternate drive or resetting windows.

Couldn't Set Default Save Location 0x80070005

Hello, I would like to set the default save location for Store apps to another drive (G. When I go into Storage in Settings, I get the "Couldn't Set Default Save Location 0x80070005" error. I would like to install Forza 7 on a different hard drive because
it's 93GB and my SSD is already getting full. Is there a way to do so? If I try to install Forza 7 from the Store, I have a dropdown menu of all the drives available and when I choose the drive I want (G and click "Install", nothing happens - I can just
keep on clicking "Install" infinitely and no download starts or anything. If I choose my C: drive, it downloads just fine. Any help will be greatly appreciated because I've had this issue for months now with different games.

Sorry for the delayed response.

From your recent description, it seems like the issue is confined to Word documents. If true, then follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Launch Word application.
• Go to File Menu and select Options.
• In the pop-up dialog box, towards the left pane, select Save.
• Under Default location file, browse the location you want to save.
• Check if the issue persists.

Error 0x80070003 Couldnt set default save location, xbox game pass

hi, Im trying to install xbox (beta) game apps to the d:\ (game installs) yet it wont let me unless its the default app directory.

i also cant change the default app directory from c:\ to d:\ idk why. attached in the error message 0x80070003.

I read here that 0x80070005 is denied access so i tried the icacl solution in command prompt, but it didnt help. any ideas?

I fixed it, by removing all my "d:\game_installs" and Steam_directory off the drive, formatting the drive, and then changing location of windows 10 default apps. it took about 2 hrs to move everything :S theres gotta be an easier way to manipulate microsoft apps and folders than formatting a drive?
