As of yet, Edge is a little lackluster in many areas!
I would suggest, just make a folder full of your favorites and put that on the favorites bar as a pseudo sidebar.

Please, follow the steps below:

- Start Microsoft Edge.

- Under Favorites, tap on the Favorites icon, create folders by right-clicking and selecting ‘Create new Folder’.

- Now you can organize your favorite links by moving them into appropriate folders.

- Click on Ellipse icon (three dots) and click on Settings.

- Under Show the favorites bar, turn on the switch to enable the favorites bar created and the links from left to right.

How do I pin favorites to the left side of the screen in IE11?

The best you can do is open your favorites list in the usual way on the right side of the screen then select the little arrow icon shown below:





This will pin you favorites list on the left, but is there all the time taking up space until you close it so it is not very nice.

Another option would be to create a folder on the left side of your favorites bar and dump your favorites in there. Not an elegant workaround again though. I wouldn't want to do it this way.
