Windows 10: Ubuntu App

I installed ubuntu off the windows store to use it with webstorm for work on a translation project using apertium. Right clicking on the icon in the menu doesn't show me where it is installed and I would like to use it as the terminal in webstorm. I also don't appear to have access to the windows apps folder even though I am administrator.

What to do in Ubuntu ?

i use ubuntu to frustrate myself.
I've had fun with my laptop lately...
Ubuntu: installer freezes
xubuntu: works, but so many missing features. media playback didnt work
Kubuntu: Works for everything but unstable. Random app crashes that only a restart fixes - sleep and hibernate dont work either

So what i'm using it for is a holdover until i find my XP disk... *Frown

 

Ubuntu terminal not displaying git messages correctly

I understand that the output for Ubuntu terminal is not showing properly for GIT commands.



I suggest you to try re-enabling Windows Subsystem for Linux and then uninstalling and re-installing Ubuntu from Microsoft Store. Follow the steps to disable Windows Subsystem for Linux and uninstall Ubuntu.



Disable Windows Subsystem for Linux:

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
   Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
   
2. In Run dialog box, type
   appwiz.cpl and hit enter.
   
3. Now on the left hand pane click on
   Turn Windows features on or off.
   
4. Now on the Windows feature window scroll down and uncheck the box next to
   Windows Subsystem for Linux.
   
5. Click on OK and Restart the PC.
   

Uninstall the Ubuntu app:

1. Go to Settings >
   Apps > Apps & features.
   
2. Now search for Ubuntu app.
   
3. Click on the app and click on
   Uninstall.
   
4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Networking issue - Windows and Ubuntu


Went on a short trip, took my Windows 10 laptop, turned off the Ubuntu computer and my wife's Windows 10 computer. When I returned, I turned everything back on and nether Windows computer could see the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS computer. On the Ubuntu computer, Files/Network clicking on Windows Network received "Unable to access location - Failed to retrieve share list from server: No such file or directory" error. Both Windows computers were able to use the Ubuntu before the trip.

Any suggestions?
