    How to prevent DVD-drive (with DVD inside) to run everytime I open File Explorer?


    Hello I'm using Windows 10 and my DVD-drive is functioning perfectly, but when I leave a DVD within (obligatory to launch my game) my DVD-drive runs when I launch File Explorer (and reruns when I close and reopen File Explorer or when the hard disk was sleeping).


    As I launch my game only once a day, I find it annoying.


    Is there a secure and easy way to disable the DVD-drive from running and checking the presence of my DVD automatically, but not preventing me to launch immediatly my game (from a hard disk icon?)

    Is this the HP 15r014tx in your system specs? If so, try the steps in this thread....

    It may be that your DVD drive has a hardware failure (as was suggested in that thread).

    DVD drive

    When I open windows explorer, it always shows the same dvd in the drive even though it is not there and I have had other dvd's in it. When I click on that drive it shows the audio and video folders of that dvd. When I click on the video folder, it shows
    all the files that are on that dvd. Also, I have an external drive enclosure that holds 2 drives and windows explorers lists the 2 drives twice. How can I get the dvd drive fixed. I am trying to run a backup and even though I tell the backup to write to one
    of the external drives, it tries to write to the dvd drive which is empty so the backup fails.

    So when you open your file explorer just where are you looking for your DVD drive ?? It only shows in one place....unless its in use.... I would love for you to post a screen shot of where you are looking.
    When I 1st open up my file explorer it only lists my hard drives ....no dvd drive shows, this is normal. (unless its IN USE) But if you move up to THIS PC at the very top your DVD drive should be listed.

    2nd way to check is to download the free program Speccy and install it, then look under the optical drives option, it should show your DVD drive listed. If it does ....your dvd drive is working as it should. Here is a link for Speccy to download.
