Can't setup task to shutdown Win10 1903 when computer goes Idle after xx time

I have these new Panasonic ToughPads model FZ-G1U

and they are running Windows 10 1903 64bit

I've setup a scheduled task that will run when Idle and it runs the shutdown /f /s command to shut down computer after it's been idle for lets say 10 minutes.

only problem is that the task doesn't seem to run.

I've also tried some other program called Wise Shutdown to also set it for 10 min idle shut down but again it does not work.

does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

    :)

How to prevent Google Chrome from keeping computer awake?

This also drove me crazy. After trying many things, this one worked:

In short, (A)create a scheduled task to kill chrome if you computer has been idle for [IdleTime]. [IdleTime] has to be the same as your (B) "PC goes to sleep after" time you enter in Settings.

A: Create a scheduled task to kill chrome.exe

    1. Open Task Scheduler (hit windows key and enter "Task Scheduler")
    2. Click "Create Task ..." on the right side menu.
    3. On the General tab: enter "Close Chrome after [IdleTime] of inactivity". Do not enter the double quotes I typed on this step or any subsequent step.
    4. On the Triggers tab: hit "New...", then select Begin the task: "On Idle", hit OK
    5. On the Actions tab: hit "New...", then enter Program/script "taskkill", Add arguments "/F /IM chrome.exe /T"
    6. On the Conditions tab: Check "start the task only if the computer is idle for" and [enter your preferred IdleTime]
    7. Remember that even when you kill Chrome, your tabs are remembered. You just need to say "Restore" on the "Chrome didn't shut down correctly" prompt next time you open Chrome.

B: Set the official "PC goes to sleep after" setting

    1. Open "Power & Sleep Settings" (hit windows key and enter "Power settings")
    2. Set When plugged in, PC goes to sleep after [enter the SAME IdleTime you used on step A]

Auto Shutdown Computer after idle period

I need some help in creating a task in Task Manager that will automatically force stop programs and shut down the computer after it has been idle for one hour. I have created a task that will shut down at a specific time, but I need something that can run multiple times throughout the day. I need the task to be automated every time the computer is rebooted.

For example, my wife boots the computer, logs onto to facebook, leaves the computer with facebook pages open (I have checked after she has walked away from the computer and have found as many as 43 facebook pages open at one time). I want a task that will then force stop facebook, then shut down the computer after it has been idle for a short period of time, then, if she logs back on later in the day will again run the routine and shut down again.

With her oversight of leaving the computer with facebook open and multiple pages open, I am afraid of someone hacking my system. I have already had as incidence of someone hacking our joint checking account and making $2800 in withdrawals. We finally got this resolved and the withdrawals reinstated.

Do I need to set up separate tasks to run every hour or so throughout the day to accomplish this task, or is there some argument or command that I can insert in the basic task that will reactivate the task to shutdown after the current session is idle for an hour?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

  4. Can't setup task to shutdown Win10 1903 when computer goes Idle after xx time

Task Scheduler runs at time, not on idle.

I've set up a task to run an Exe file at 23 o'clock at night. I've also set up a trigger on this task to run it when the computer is idle.

The task starts at 23 o'clock just fine. (With the start on schedule trigger.) Also, when I start the computer manually, then move the mouse a little to simulate a user when started up and then leave it, it starts when the computer turns idle. All fine here....

The problem is, the task won't run when I turn on the computer remotely with WOL. It boots up, logs in automatically. (No password set) Then, it just sits there and the task isn't started.

Any ideas on what can go wrong? Thanks for your help!

    Additional info:

    - Trigger is: On Idle.

    - The task is run as SYSTEM and Hidden, configured for windows 10.

    - Checked for processes preventing computer ot go idle with Powercfg /requests.

    - Run with highest privileges is off.

    - Start only if idle for: 1 minute.

    - Wait for idle for: Do not wait:

    - Stop if the computer ceases to be idle: On

    - Restart if the idle state resumes: On

    - Start the task only if the power is on: Off
