upgrade win7 oem to win 10 what to do about livewriter and my blog

The way i understand it is that when i upgrade to windows 10 i won't be able to install windows live writer/essentials 12 as it's no longer available. So then I won't be able to access all my years of blog posts. Is there a way around this - I can't believe I lose access to all that work.

    :)

  2. Upgrade a Win 10 home OEM to Win 10 Pro OEM with Win 10 Pro OEM Key?

I recently purchased a laptop that has an OEM version of Win 10 Home on it.

I verified this by using : slmgr -dli.

Previously I had purchased an OEM Win 10 Pro Key.

Can I use this OEM Win 10 Pro Key to upgrade the OEM Win 10 Home to the OEM Win 10 Pro.

If so what are the steps to accomplish this?

In addition, I assume that is this is possible, that the current product key will be updated to the new product key?

The reason I am asking this is that it's my understanding that these product keys are tied to the bios on a name brand laptop.

    TIA

Perform upgrade to win7 ultimate OEM copy to Win 10 pro but keep using Win7 Ultimate, Win 8.1 and New Win 10 in triple boot

This is my question I have and what I would like to do:

I have a self built computer that I bought OEM version of Windows 7 ultimate and then upgraded to large SSD drive and then bought OEM Win8.1 pro and is in a dual boot setup. I currently use Win 8.1 but really miss my Win7 install as it has all my programs
and installs that I really would like to upgrade to Win 10 Pro but I want to keep win 7 install and also Win 8.1 install after I "upgrade" to Win 10. If I purchased the win 10 pro upgrade USB retail, cloned my win7 install to another hard drive on the same
computer and use the Upgrade Win10 USB to upgrade "cloned" win 7 install to win 10 would I have a license to all 3 products?

I do not want to do the "free" upgrade as that would then make the win7 ultimate no longer valid but I do have an unused win7 pro license that I never used but is it even possible to "downgrade a valid install to achieve my end result? I am hoping to have
a valid 3 installs and could continue to use then all 3 operating systems in triple boot fashion. (I did that with win 3.1, win98 and winxp). What would be the best way to upgrade to win10 but not have to reinstall all my programs in win10 or program install
or custom settings to win7 install and have 3 valid install with licenses?

Update/improve disclaimer for OEM Win7/Win8 users upgrading to Win 10 needed?

    Hello All,

Could you please voice your opinion on if an "Update/improve disclaimer for OEM Win7/Win8 users upgrading to Win 10 is needed?"

This is due to the following conundrum with existing users and I am sure will affect many:

Users with OEM Windows 7/8 systems purchased from manufacturers (e.g. Dell, Acer, Asus, etc.) upgrade to Windows 10 by doing a clean install using the USB or ISO installation media without initially conducting the recommended 'upgrade' are stuck with a clean
Windows 10 installation that cannot be activated using the pre-existing Windows Product Key for their OEM system. Hence, users will have to downgrade or revert back to their previous OEM Win 7/8 OS in order to upgrade properly using the 'upgrade' option instead
of a 'clean' install to activate Win 10 properly.

    The caveat or gotcha is that many users will run into the problem of reverting or downgrading back to their OEM Win 7/8 OS where the installation media provided by their OEM in the form of a boot recovery partition that is either corrupted or not accessible;
the warranty on their device has expired thus they cannot access or retrieve the installation media.

I understand that this is may not be Microsoft's fault and responsibility but it would honestly help a lot of users if we were told, reminded, disclaimed that we MUST choose the route or path of doing an 'upgrade' with the pre-existing OEM Win7/8 as-is for
the existing product keys to get recognized for Windows 10 to activate properly.

If the Windows 10 team checks with their Microsoft Support line in terms of Windows 10 activation they will notice a lot of their calls will be about this issue. I hope and pray that MS helps us users out and maybe have an alternate solution for us to properly
activate and register our OEM product keys because as of the moment I am stuck with a functional laptop but no valid Windows OS to work with. So, it looks like using Unix/Linux is my best bet unless MS or OEMs step up to help its users?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks for reading.
