Windows 10: Windows Music Folder Question

Some background on my question: I am running W10, and I have a folder where I keep all of my .mp3 music, and update it periodically with my phone that has limited data. And it got me thinking, because sometimes I want to listen to a genre, like Rock on my phone, I could, or just a certain artist, I can do that to, heck, sometimes just a certain decade for nostalgia, the my list and sets of folders is quite massive. I can do that, via the metadata on my music VLC app on my phone; filtering it as such. I also like my clean set of artists -> albums -> songs format I built my PC system's music folder around over the years.

My question: Can I change my folders around like a table, where I don't need to load them in a music application for metadata sorting; where I can have the folders changed to show by date, or genre if I so chose? And then repackage them all in my normal folder setup if possible, for my normal song lookup? Kind of like smartphone's music apps metadata sorting, but for displaying or even moving the relevant album folders and files themselves? Or would you need a folder changing application for that; or is it simply better to go without folders entirely, even with a folder of many thousands of tracks?

Hi Sudono,

This can be facilitated by performing changes in the View tab of the File Explorer window. To do this, you can perform the following:

• In the Music folder, click on the View tab.
• In the Current View menu, click on Group by.
• Click on Album.

Adding Album Art to your music keeps things organized in your music library. We suggest following the steps below in order to add Album Art to your music files:

• Look for an Album Art for your music and save it to your computer.
  
• Right-click the album art image and select Copy from the context menu.
• Open Windows Media Player and go to the Album stab.
• Search for the album you want to add the Album Art to.
• Right-click on the album and select Paste Album Art to add Album Art to the track.

when i click group by album, it become unspecified and showing folder, not showing the album picture. so how can i solve this?
