Windows 10: I can`t turn on pause for Updates

I can`t turn on pause for Updates (red text: we search updates). There are not updates available, I reboot my PC several times

I had turned Pause Updates ON because of concern about the name of an update. After being satisfied that the update was OK, I turned Pause Updates OFF and the update disappeared and has not been offered in the 10 hours since that time. The update is not
listed as already installed.

Closing this thread may or may not be the right strategy.

• If Microsoft withdrew the update with AMD64 in the name then you are correct and there is no problem with Pause Updates and this thread should be closed.
• If the AMD64 update is still being offered and I'm not getting it as a result of toggling Pause Updates then this thread addresses a second issue and should remain open.

When I started this thread it seemed very likely that #2 was the issue. However, the post by ROrange in the other thread suggests that #1 is the problem. For now, I've unmarked as the answer your post in the other thread and I'm leaving this one open,
but will adjust based on how this plays out.
