Windows 10: File Explorer Search not accepting clipboard paste

In the last four days, File Explorer no longer accepts a paste from Clipboard in the "Search" box. Clipboard itself has no issues. I discovered this after installing KB4524570.

File Explorer Search Not Working


I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

Hi Carolyn_WP,

If you cut those files, they are just marked for moving, it is only when you paste that they are actually moved. You must have inadvertently pasted somewhere when you were doing other tasks . . .

Try searching in File Explorer for a known file name that would have been in the cut files, to see if you can locate where those files ended up . . .

If you have version 1809 of Windows 10, press the Windows Key + V to open the Clipboard app, if you do not have version 1809 installed, there is no clipboard history in your version of Windows 10 . . .

I cut some files in file explorer intending to copy them to another directory. By the time I got to the other directory (I don't believe I did any copy/pasting in between but I did do other tasks) the files did not paste and they are not back in the original
place.

I am using Windows 10. Is there anyway to get to my Clipboard history in file explorer to get at these files?
