  1. Internet Speed Problems past two months

I use Xfinity for my internet provider. (Insert joke here) I was paying for 275 mbps and would get that about 1/3rd of the time. So I upgraded to 500 mbps. My connection goes even slower. Initial I was just hard wired in through the ethernet connection but do to speeds reporting around 50 mbps I tried to install a Netgear USB Wireless Adapter Netgear WNDA3100v3 which is an N600. I am sitting 3 feet from my router and sometimes will get 80 mbps tops. I tried the other adapter to ensure it wasn't a problem with my ethernet adapter. I have switched out modems/routers, ethernet cables, even reinstalled windows which helped for about speed tests showing a 509mbps and a 603mbps speed tests. Then right back to nothing. Xfinity is trying to tell me its my computer. However, when I had the 275 mbps connection my speed was good about 33% of the time. My other devices are an even older pc then the one I am on, which has not had windows reinstalled, has a ton of junk on it and it runs at 205 mbps on the test I just ran, and at one point during the test it got up to 319 mbps. Until we upgraded to 500 mbps my pc was always faster than that. The other weird issue is on my Samsung Galaxy 7 my wifi was faster than it is now at the 500 mbps. It avgs about 125 to 150 mbps (used to be around 225). My wifes Galaxy Note 8 will average around 410 mbps.

This is driving me nutz! At first I thought it might have been my Google account or Google Chrome, but Edge and Firefox so a similar response. I find it difficult buy possible that my pc could be affecting the speed so much since I have reloaded Windows and tried two separate adapters.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

    internet download speed varies widely

In past 6 months my internet download speed as measured by Internet Speed Test - Cable Speed & Bandwidth Test | Spectrum has been around 180 mbps. I have noticed in the
past week the download speed is around 25. The upload speed has remained about the same, around 11 mbps. Various support people have suggested a number of things, none have made a difference: uninstalling latest windows 10 update 1903; verifying latest adapters
are installed; verifying latest bios installed; hardware diagnostics ran and passed. No new software has been installed. Been using same ISP and router. I have an Apple computer in house and it still gets faster download speed so I don;t think problem is related
    to wifi, ISP, etc.

Slow Internet speed on only one computer.

    Hi Cody,

Slow internet speed on one of your computer could be due to the following:

    • Outdated network adapter driver
    • Different Wi-Fi chipset
    • Computer processing speed

Make sure that the network driver of your computer(s) are always updated.

We also suggest you to contact your internet service provider for them to check your internet connection speed and give you more information.

Feel free to post back if you have other concerns.
