    Hard reset and restart not working as I wish.


    Two similar questions here, both for an laptop: ASUS ROG GL752VW 64bit with WIN10 fully updated.


    1. On doing a hard reset (holding the power button down) my laptop doesn't just shut down - it restarts. How can I set hard reset to do what it has done on every single computer I've owned so far, to just shut it down?

    I have tried the Control Panel/System/Advanced System Settings/Start-up and Recovery Settings/System Failure-Unchecking Automatically Restart, but does not help.



    2. Restart on this machine seems to be an useless option, as it most times restarts with the same issues that prompted the restart to begin with. It'll at times go so far as to re-open any windows and browser I might have had open before the restart - there seems to be some sort of memory cache or similar that simply doesn't empty on restart. On a full shut down - reboot this does not happen.

    Is there a setting or something that controls this, I'd like for restart to really start it up fresh?

    The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

    Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

    Thank you john for all of your help i decided to get the usb my computer came with and factory reset it i didnt have anything that personal or valueable so its ok thanks for the help though i appreciate it
