  1. Can't reset admin password through command line using net user

I've read many threads and articles on this issue but I'm still stuck. I only have a local admin account on my computer that's Not connected to Microsoft. Thankfully I'm not locked out yet. The admin command prompt doesn't recognize any admin name I use in the account settings except for Administrator.

I have typed in net user Administrator newpassword and the command line said The Command Completed Successfully. I tested this new password elsewhere and it didn't work.

Then I typed my computer name for the heck of it, or what I thought was my computer name anyway. Again there's no way I can find my actual admin name. I typed net user ComputerName newpassword and got this:

The syntax of this command is:

    NET USER

    [username [password | \] [options]] [/DOMAIN]*

    username {password | \} /ADD [options] [/DOMAIN]*

    username [/DELETE] [/DOMAIN]

    username [/TIMES:{times | ALL}]

    username [/ACTIVE: {YES | NO}]

Where do I go from here? Will this reset my password? If I can get an answer in as plain English as possible, that would be great. I've read articles on this and I'm beyond confused.

Net user command line not functioning

    Hi All,

I had recently set up driver verifier to check on a bad pool caller crash, and now when ever I login, my computer crashes in about 30 sec. I was trying to boot into safe mode, but my user account with no password (My brothers), is the one safe mode defaults
to when loading. It then proceeds to tell me that group policy doesn't allow non-admins to use safe mode. My next idea was to use net user to remove his account or add a password, but to get to the meat of the issue,
net user returns an empty list with the text the command completed with one or more errors below it. I have tried with command prompt running on both my drivers and in and out of my admin account. How should I go about fixing this? Is there
an easier way to get safe mode to prompt me with a user list?

If you need more information or more specific information to help me, I will gladly comply. Just don"t ask me for bank account passwords and such.

    Thanks in advance!
