Windows 10: USB storage devices - unable to eject, and also, how can I easily reconnect using W10 once...

I have a USB storage device. After using it, if I go to the task bar, and select eject, sometimes it says that the device is still in use, even though I have finished using it. I don't know what to do, other than to shutdown my machine, before pulling the USB plug from the PC. Is there any other way I can do this please? Thanks.


Also, if I am successful in ejecting the device from the W10 taskbar, how can I get W10 to "see" that the device is available again without having to manually pull the USB plug from its socket, and push the USB plug back in to the PC again?

I want to eject USB storage device safely by command eject for it, i also check that device is not currently in use


but i can't eject it safely

USB Storage Devices auto ejects itself

Just recently, any storage devices that I connect through the USB ports will auto ejects itself after a period of time. usually after 2 hours. I've tried External hard disk, brand WD and Samsung and also, thumbrives. all will auto eject itself. However,
If I connect the devices through a USB hub, it will not auto eject. Unfortunately, I cannot connect WD HD to the USB hub as the speed will become slow. So, the hub is not a good solution for my problem.

An additional note, the light on the devices still shine even though it had been auto ejected. and also, this just started to happen recently after I upgraded to windows 10. I'm not sure if it is the cause. thank you.
