Windows 10: Windows 10 1809 1903 Huge ghost ram usage.

I have 7 computers that has this issue. Those are fresh installs from wds + manually updated drivers and installed all possible utilities. Task manager or rammap doesnt show anything except memory in use.

Poolmon highest usage was ismc which is intel rapid storage. I uninstalled that but issue still persists. Also ram use gradually increases so it takes like 10 hours to actually see the problem.

Is there a way to exactly see where ram is being used?

hello.

sorry for my English.

my system ram usage is really high in the last couple days, about 60% or more setting in the desktop,task manager show nothing that consume that amount of ram.

when i am booting up my system everything is fine and ram usage is normal but after a few hours the ram will usage will spike

steps i took to try and troubleshoot the problem.

sfc /scannow which found and repaired some files in my system.

clean boot -freed some ram after booting but didn't solve the problem.

anti virus scan- i ran my anti virus(avast primer) full scan and boot scan(scan right after post before windows boot manager take control) which found nothing+ malwarebyte scan which found nothing.

oh and last thing i don't believe is is superfetch since it was never like that before,also i ran 2 vms on 4 gig ram each which almost capped my ram(15.6/16) which again was never like that before.

what do you guys think? do some of you have the same problem after updating to windows 10 1903?

hello again.

i did some other steps for trouble shooting:



there is some improvement but still not where my ram usage was.

not long ago i would have used 7-8 gb of ram with around 10+ Mozilla tabs open,now i get 10+ with Mozilla and 10+ open tabs

again my user barely using any ram and my system is still using 6+ gb of ram with sysmain shutdown.

have any more ideas?

i am thinking about reinstalling windows but hope some one have better idea.

There's a known issue in Build 9879, when GDI objects count in Explorer process reaches 10,000 the Explorer starts acting like you described. More about this issue on Microsoft TechNet: https://social.technet.microsoft.com...iew2014General

To see the number of GDI objects, open Task Manager and go to Details tab. Right click anywhere in the column titles row and click Select columns and select GDI objects from the list, click OK:




The GDI objects are now shown:




When this count reaches 10,000 the issue starts but it can luckily be easily and fast fixed. First kill (end) the Explorer process by right clicking it and selecting End task:




Notice that killing the whole Explorer process your Taskbar and all open File Explorer windows will disappear.

Now open the Task Manager's File menu and select Run new task, type Explorer.exe and click OK:




Explorer restarts, the GDI object count is low and you can continue using Windows normally.
