Windows 10: drag window to top of screen options

When I drag a window to the top of my screen it maximises the window as it's supposed to.

Does anyone know a way (maybe using third party software) to make it so when I drag the window to the top it maximises vertically but limits the horizontal size?

I have a 4k monitor and dont always want my web browser maximised as there's often a lot of white space either side.

Does that make sense?

Black screen after 'Starting Windows' sequence

Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

Try this quoted from "VisiHow" article "Repair Windows 7 Black Screen of Death":

They, also, have some other options there, too.
Google search and you will find a lot of the "Windows Black Screen of Death with cursor" fixes.

 

Drag and Drop

Hi Charles,

the steps you suggested didn't work for me but, when pressing the escape key it somehow expanded the drive and by using drag and drop to the single file in the list worked.

In the past I could drag and drop multiple folders onto the drive on the network computer(s). Doing it on individual folders will take far too long and time consuming and is not an option.

Microsoft should be able to identify what is blocking it and issue a fix.

My machine is multi boot so tomorrow I will try with Windows 7.

4870x2 won't display at 1680x1050 at all!

OK. Now I know what ur problem is. Step by step:
1. Go to Catalyst Control Center
2. Click on the word "Graphic" right on top left corner. It will display drop down menu
3. Click on Display monitor and will see the list of monitor at near bottom
4. Right Click the monitor and select "Configure". It will show up the window
5. There will be 3 option to select. Select the middle one and then click on the tab which show the bar with 15%.
6. Drag the bar to max, and the screen will stretch to the native resolution 1680x1050.
7. Also click the tab with showing RGB drop down list and select the last one (it will change to image quality for pc).
