Windows 10: Photos app does not display photos with a name starting with "IMG"

I have a MD My Cloud Mirror drive that I've been using for a long time with Windows 7. I just purchased a laptop with Windows 10. Once I added the folder in Photos app for the cloud drive, I found that Photos is not displaying allow of my photos in the index, therefore I can not view these photos. I played with it for a while and found that Photos is not displaying photos with a name that starts with "IMG". I could rename photo file from "IMGxxx.jpg" to "xxx.jpg" and it will be displayed by Photos. Is this a bug for Photos? How do I work around this problem? It's not practical to rename all my photos file names. I created a bug report, but got no response.

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

Hello,

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.

SlideShow in Photos app does not display more that 30 photos

I suggest you to remove and re-add the photos folder from Photo app. Follow the steps below:

• 
  Open Photos App.
  
• 
  Click on Settings.
  
• 
  Under Sources click on the X mark next to the folder location listed to delete the location from Photos App.
  
• 
  Once done try to re-add the folder by clicking on Add a Folder.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check if issue persists.

Photo app is gone

@Lenoveo, it's actually named 'Photos' with an 's'. Is it really missing, or is it just the Tile on Start that's gone? Try typing photos in the Cortana/Search box next to Start and see if it finds it. If it does appear in the list you can right-click on it and 'Pin to Start' (or the taskbar). If it doesn't, try Brink's 'App reset' tutorial.
