Desktop will not respond to wake up.

    Hello,

I have a 27 inch HP pavilion 27-r119 AIO computer with windows 10. I just did a complete HP reset. The machine will wake up fine if only idle for a short time. Either moving the mouse or pushing a key on the keyboard wakes it up quickly. My problem only seems to be if I let it sleep/hibernate overnight. When I try to wake it in the morning, it will not respond to anything. The only way I can get it going is to do a power shutdown with the power button, and then powering on again. I would like to know if this is something that can be fixed in software, or does it sound like a hardware issue of some kind. I need to know while I have the chance to return it?

It is a HP Certified Refurbished computer from E-bay.

*Please remember ----the wake up works fine, but only if it is not for an extended length of time.

Thank you for any information-----either about a fix? ......or if you think it is hardware or software related?

  2. Wake On LAN is Not Working

I have been unable to get Wake on LAN functionality to work in Windows 10:

    • I am attempting to do a Wakeup on LAN to my desktop computer which is running Windows 10 from my laptop which is also running Windows 10. The desktop computer is connected to my router through a wired Ethernet connection and the laptop is connected to the same router via a wireless connection
    • I'm doing this within my Local Area Network so I'm not going through a router from the external network
    • I've upgraded the driver on my network adapter to the latest version
    • I've enabled all the required functionality in the BIOS to enable Wake on LAN
    • I've turned on all the required settings in my network adapter to enable Wake on LAN
    • I've disabled "Fast Startup" in Windows 10
    • I'm using the "Wake on LAN" software application from Aquila Technology
    • The software is installed on both my desktop and laptop and I've tested it with the desktop in "listening" mode and verified that the desktop receives "magic" wake-up packets when it is up-and-running
    • When my desktop system is powered down and I send it a Magic Packet in exactly the same way as I did when it was powered up, nothing happens and it doesn't respond to the wake-up packet

Any suggestions of what I can do to further troubleshoot this problem?

    Thanks,

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Desktop will not respond to wake up. :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

Desktop will not respond to wake up.

    Wake up from sleep mode

    Hello,

It could be that the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) that is installed on the computer reduces power to the port to which the input device is connected, or that the Keyboard item in Control Panel is not configured to wake the computer when pressing a key
on the keyboard, etc. For us to isolate the issue in waking your desktop, kindly respond to the questions below:

    • Have you made any significant changes to your device prior to the issue, such as installing an application or update, or installing a new hardware, etc.?
    • Are you able to wake the desktop from Sleep mode using another keyboard?
    • What is the make and model of your device?
    • Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed?

As a first troubleshooting step, we suggest that you update your device. Updating would replace any outdated, corrupted, or damaged components of your device, as well as the drivers installed. You may do so by selecting the
Start button, then select Settings > Update & security
    > Windows Update, then select Check for updates. If there are updates that needs to be installed, kindly install them and restart your device to complete the installation process. After restarting, attempt to wake
your PC using the keyboard and see if the issue still persists.

We look forward to an update from you.
