  1. Most efficient way for me to install OS from hdd to ssd?

So i dont know if this is the right place to ask but i need some advice. I just installed an NVME m.2 ssd on my buddies computer and i want to swap the OS onto it. I am wondering what the most efficient way to do this would be. He has 900gb worth of files and a 500gb ssd so should i just get rid of 400gb-500gb worth of games and other third party programs that can be reinstalled and use the Samsung data migration tool to copy the OS onto the ssd, and then just reformat the hdd and reinstall what i need onto it and move what i dont need from the ssd back onto the hdd. Or should i use the windows media creation tool to cleanly reinstall windows to the ssd and then delete windows from the hdd after. its a bit of a daunting process and i dont know where to start, i believe i will have to change the boot order in BIOS either way?

    :)

Most Efficient Way to Install an OS

I am wondering what is the most efficient way to install a new OS. Is it faster to do the setup through USB or to image the new machine from a known good image?

Installing OS on SSD that's already on a HDD

    Hi there,

I heard that copying/moving OS from drive to drive isn't good. I just bought a SSD for my Freshly build PC which has Windows 10 Home installed on HDD, Now I'm willing to Install Windows on SSD for great performance.

    I have some questions:

    1) How do I install OS on SSD whiles it's still active on HDD?

    2) How to install it? (I have Windows 10 USB drive)

    3) How to enable SSD in UEFI BIOS?

    4) Will I lose my data on partitions of HDD?

    5) Will 120 GB space of my SSD cause any problem while updating Windows?

    6) After install, Would I need to contact MSFT for that 'loong' code to activate Windows? (I had to contact for that code when I reinstalled Windows on my PC from My Laptop!)

    And a off-topic question:

How to rename (Re letter) a Partition? I've Optical drive names 'D' and it's between my 'C' and 'E' drive partition.

move windows os from ssd to hdd

    Hi DaveM121,

Actually i had cloned my ssd to hdd and it was booting perfectly from hdd .But after that i had formatted my ssd and it stopped booting from hdd. Then i install windows again on ssd and created
dual boot using easy bcd.Now it is booting perfectly from HDD and SSD but if i remove os from ssd then it stops working. But i don't want os on ssd and it should boot only from hdd.So what should i do ?
