How To “Fix 5GHz WiFi Not Showing Up In Windows 10” Issue

    Hello Microsoft:

I followed your instruction and enabled wireless however, when clicking advance mine says LAN 802.11d not LAN 802.11n

    1. Go to Desktop mode
    2. Select Charms > Settings > PC Info
    3. Click Device Manager (located in the top left of screen)
    4. Click the > sign to expand the Network adapters entry.
    5. Right-click the wireless adapter and click Properties.
    6. Click the Advanced tab, click 802.11n mode, under value Select Enable.

However, when clicking advance mine says LAN 802.11d not LAN 802.11n ( I enabled anyway, so please advise if shouldn't have)

Either way I still don't have the option for 5GHz

I went as far as to follow the instructions from the Geek page:

Step 1: On your keyboard, press Windows + R keys at a time. This will open the Run dialog box.

Step 2: Type cmd in the Run box and press Enter to open Command Prompt.

Step 3: In the Command Prompt window, type the following command:

    netsh wlan show drivers

Step 4: From the result that opens up in the Command Prompt window, look for Radio types supported.

In this section, you will see 3 network modes. Following are the network modes with what they mean:

    a) 802.11g 802.11n: Your computer only supports 2.4GHz bandwidth.

    b) 802.11n 802.11g 802.11b: Your computer only supports 2.4GHz bandwidth.

    c) 802.11a 802.11g 802.11n: Your computer supports both 2.4Ghz and 5GHz bandwidth.

    Mine only has this B) 802.11n 802.11g 802.11b not C) 802.11a 802.11g 802.11n

So after all this my question is:

Is there anything I can do, buy etc. to add 5GHz to my network?

I am constantly losing my WIFI and I am constantly fighting with Optimum and all they can tell me there's a lot of traffic and that my computer is old that I should get another computer with 5GHz capability.

It's bad enough that I am a disabled & retiree old grams on a fix budget and also like I tell them if my computer ain't broke why should I get a new one?

    Please someone HELP!

    Thanks

    :)

5ghz wifi not showing windows 10

I just got a new modem/router and it has a 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi connections...Only the 2.4ghz shows in the wifi list while the 5ghz isn't showing at all. My computer's network card does support the 5ghz and I know the 5ghz is working because I can connect to it from other devices...just not my desktop computer.

EDIT: I've attempted updating network driver, also resetting network in the settings menu. Both hasn't worked.

  3. 5GHz Wifi no longer showing

    Hello,

I own the Hp spectre x360 ac-002ne. Previously my laptop was able to connect to my 5GHz wifi. Suddenly the 5GHz network disappeared on the laptop, but it is sill showing on other devices. The 2.4 GHz wifi is still working on the laptop. I tried uninstalling
the wifi drivers, reinstalling them and even doing a system restore point but neither one of them solved the issue.

    Any suggestion?

    Thank you
