Windows Sonic and high playback quality issue

    Hello ladies and gents!

Have a little problem with setting up my PC audio. I have a Creative SB AE-5 soundcard and some great Hi-res certified HPs. I am using a highest playback quality, which my SB can produce, 32bit and 384 kHz (why not to use it, when I can). BUT! I want to use a Windows Sonic for a little spatial effect in games and when i turn it on, playback quality resets to default 16bit 44 kHz, and when I set quality back to 32bit (tried also 24bit alternatives), Sonic turns itself off. Are there some restrictions for playback quality for Sonic? And, if I buy Dolby Atmos, will I face the same problem?

Please help me solve this problem.

    Thx!

    Andrew.

    :)

    Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

    Windows 10 Poor Playback Quality

This is noted, Nate. Please try to look into Windows Update and check if there are available driver updates.

If the driver of your audio device is up to date, you can try turning off your
    Windows 10 Audio Enhancement
and see if the sound quality improves. To do that, follow these steps:

    • In the Search bar, type Sound and select Sound Control Panel.
    • In the Playback tab, right-click the Default Device (Speaker) and click
      Properties.
    • Under Speaker Properties, switch to Enhancements tab and click the box for Disable all enhancements.
    • Click Apply, then OK.
This time, check the sound quality if it has improved.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards.
