Windows 10: Problems with Windows Update 1909

I have tried to update from version 1803 many times and each time it reaches 89% in the installation and freezes. I then have to turn off the power and turn it on again, whereupon it restores the previous version. Microsoft support phoned me over the course of a week and this happened every time despite them controlling the computer and the problem been escalated.


After the last attempt the computer would not start up so I then went into safe mode and tried a system restore which failed. So then I tried a factory reset but this failed as well. Eventually it did start up after many attempts but I found many problems with apps and there was no sound. I installed 2 diagnostic and repair programmes-Advanced System Pro and Avast Clean-up Premium but neither have restored the audio services, also Microsoft Edge is not working. During the repair week Microsoft downloaded the ISO file and it still failed to update. If I could just repair the audio I would be ahppy to stay with version 1803. Can anyone help with this please?


In Services it says that Audio Services are running and I have updated the drivers for my speakers and microphone to no avail. If I try to play a wav file in Groove Music it says it's not supported but in the defaults it says it is.

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

 

Problems with search in Windows 1909

Hi,

I have problems with advanced search in Windows 1909

• In the formula I type, I don’t get blue text indicating that the formula is correct.
• When I need dates in the formula, I don’t get a calendar to help me compose the formula.
• When I use for instance the keyword “kind” I don’t get help to choose between the different kinds that are available.
• ...

This is a huge step backwards for me. Is there a way to fix it?

Windows 10 update 1909

No you do not need to update to 1809 - 1903 if you are currently on version 1803, then version 1909 will appear in the list of updates and will automatically be installed on your PC since 1803 has run out of support

You do not need to do anything, 1909 is currently spreading around the world, just give it time to appear in the list of pending updates . . .
