I really need something that will tell me I'm using data in the background. My laptop broke down, so yesterday I fired up my husband's which he rarely uses. We have limited data out here in the sticks - 10gb. I pause updates because I see several downloads queued up and I really need to just get by until mine is fixed.

Go to the Microsoft store today to get an app I use on my laptop, and find a boatload of things have updated since yesterday -- chewing through over 3GB of my data. I'm so pissed....I don't and never will use an Xbox or any of the stupid games that downloaded while I was thinking I had "all" updates turned off. How can I prevent this? This is the second time this crap has eaten through a bunch of my data and it's getting really old.

When this laptop was in use before, I had a 1gb data limit set but apparently when I used a friend's unlimited to update Windows to the 1809 version, apparently that data limit disappeared so I had no warning.

Is there an app that I can run like a sticky note in a corner that shows what is using data and how to freakin' STOP IT??? I'm beyond frustrated.

    :)

  2. Sticky Notes not show the text

    Hi Nancy,

The issue may be related to corrupted application files. To troubleshoot this kind of issue, follow the steps below:

Delete the contents of the Sticky Notes folder and run Sticky Notes Manually.

Step 1. Navigate to the App data folder and for that follow the steps mentioned below to help fix the issue.

    a. Press Windows key + X.

    b. Select File Explorer.

    c. Navigate to C:\Users\<your User Name>.

Once you are inside your User folder you should see a list of Folders like Contacts, Desktop and downloads etc.

You need to access some files that are hidden to continue troubleshooting,

Step 2. Try to see Hidden Folders and files and for that you need to follow the steps provided below.

    • Open Folder Options by Pressing Windows key + X, clicking
Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking
      Folder Options.
    • Click the View tab.
    • Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files, folders, and
      drives, and then click OK.

Step 3. Delete the Sticky notes temp file.

Now, you should be able to see a folder by name App data above contacts.

    • Click on the folder.
    • Navigate to Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky notes.
    • Delete the file StickyNotes.snt.
Now close Sticky Notes and reopen it to check if it works.

If the issues still persist, check the answer provided by Ramesh.Kumar on this

    thread
and proceed with the steps on how to Run the Sticky Notes from the root Folder.

We look forward to your response.

Windows 10 Data Usage Not Correctly Showing?

All of the apps it's showing in the list are apps that I don't use, is the problem that it isn't recording the data usage of the apps that I use? and if so is there a way to add them in?

    Data Usage per App

    Hi,

This feature does actually still exist, and to know exactly the specific data usage for each of the apps installed, here's how:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Tap on Network & Wireless.
    • Select Data Usage.
    • And tap on the two horizontal lines, showing data percentages.
From there, all apps will show up with the corresponding data usages.

Let us know if this helps.

    - If you think this was useful, you may "mark it as an answer" to help those who are facing the same problem. -
