Windows 10: Cannot left click on taskbar icons.

Hello there,


I am having an issue, and it has been going on for about 2 months now.

I cannot left click on the taskbar icons that are located next to the clock (eg. Wi-Fi, Sound, Clock).

And along with that, I cannot right click on any of my programs that I have added to my taskbar (eg. Google Chrome).

I also cannot change my audio device without having to go into the Settings option.

WiFi I am stuck (I am using an external Plug-and-Play Wifi Adapter).


I have run the "sfc /scannow" command in Command Prompt Admin (or CPA). No issues found.

I am running the latest Win10 Home.

I have run the "DSIM.exe /whatever_the_code_is" command in CPA.

The incredibly long Powershell command that also pops up with errors that I am meant to ignore? yup, done that one too.

All drivers are up to date.

Reinstalled Win10 just to be sure. Didn't work. Problem is still there.


PC Specs.

CPU: i7-6700k (water cooled)

HDD: WD Green 1TB (running really well considering its age)

SSD: Samsung EVO 250GB (OS Drive)

SSHD: Seagate Barracuda 4TB.

PSU: Couger 1200w 80+ Gold
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz 32GB (4x8BG)

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB


I have no idea what to do next. I am going to buy a whole new PC and use this one as a back up, but I still would like this problem fixed, just in case.

System Icons on taskbar

Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

How do I move the taskbar icons back to the left?

Hi,

Kindly follow these steps to return the icons on the left side of the Taskbar:

• Right click on the empty Taskbar and uncheck Lock all taskbars.
• Right click again on empty Taskbar and hover the mouse on Toolbar.
• Click New folder.

Hi,

To address your concern, follow the steps below on how to show hidden icons on the taskbar.

• Open Settings, and click on the Personalization
  icon.
• Click on Taskbar on the left side, and click on the
  Select which icons appear on the taskbar link under the Notification area section on the right.
• Turn on Always show all icons in the notification area at the top
