Windows 10: I'm on windows 10; version 1909; and 'check for updates is not working

I'm on a Windows 10 computer; version 1909.


Everything is running fine; except 'check for updates' isn't working.


I go to start, update and security, check for updates, it does its thing; and then it comes back with:


"we ran into a problem while connecting to the Windows Update service. We'll try to connect again later, or you can select Retry now".


It's been like that for 2 days.


Is there anything I can do?

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

 

Advice For People wishing to update to Windows 10 Redstone

Yep. Tried to update my Realtek sound driver to the lastest version. After that I can't even use the Realtek sound control panel any more. It is now blocked. Seems M$ is determined to force users to swallow their automated driver update system.
