So, I have two sources of audio... One on the front of my pc and one in the back both connected via 3.5mm jack.

If both are plugged in, the only one that works is the one plugged into the front of the PC. Just for context, both audio sources (My Speakers, and Headhpones) are both forced to be the default audio source called "Speakers (2- Realtek High Definition Audio)" So, for some reason my PC can't tell which one it wants to use? and just picks the one comming from the 3.5 jack plugged into the front of the PC and just ignores the one in the back.

Once I unplug the one in the front, the default audio goes back to my headphones instantly.

I'm not sure if i'm missing something here, and I'd like to be able to swap between them while they're both plugged in. Which I can't do atm because both audio sources are classified as "Speakers (2- Realtek High Definition Audio)" (So only one of these are shown when both are plugged in.) I'm trying to find out how to tell my PC to let me see both of them when I open sound settings.

  2. Realtek High Definition Audio not working

First of all, the Realtek High Definition Audio Device did not automatically reinstall after uninstalling and rebooting. I had to go into Add Legacy Software and select it to install. The Device Manager crashed while installing it, which it always does.
Upon starting it up again, the Device is there, but with a warning sign next to it indicating it is not functional.

Second of all, when I did the rest of the steps, the Driver Manager told me specifically that the drivers for Realtek High Definition Audio Device are up to date.

Thank you for trying to help so far btw

Realtek High Definition Audio and High Definition Audio Device missing

    Hello,
    Basic info:
I'm using a Dell G5 15 gaming notebook with Windows 10 for about half a year. Pretty early on I got sound problems such as occasional static sound, static sound when playing yt video and a game at the same time and such. I found a fix to this by going to the Device Manager and changing High Definition Audio Device to Realtek High Definition Audio which would fix it for some time and then I'd have to do it again.
    Problem:
But now I don't have Realtek High Definition Audio nor High Definition Audio Device in the device manager, I only have Realtek Audio. ( and Intel display audio, NVIDIA high definition audio, NVIDIA virtual audio device, but I don't think these are relevant) So the sound is low quality, muffled and there's the occasional static sound. I tried installing Realtek High Definition Audio driver from the original Dell G5 15 site, so it should be compatible, the installation goes well, but there is no change in the actual audio. Looking for help on how to fix this. Thanks
