Can old laptops support UEFI boot?

I have an old laptop (Toshiba A355-S6925) that was new in 2008. It originally came with Vista 64, but is currently running the latest released version of 64-bit Windows 10. Booting is now legacy on MBR, but I would like to switch to UEFI on GPT if the BIOS will support it. Unfortunately, there is no legacy mention in the BIOS or any way showing to specify UEFI boot. Any ideas if UEFI could be made to work properly on this old machine? I could make a fresh Macrium backup and then blindly try, but I'd rather have some positive input before I tackle it.

    :)

  2. Uefi Supported Motherboards.

but the really hard part is they dont list that as an option when you look at the mb specs.

there used to be a easy way to tell. if the board supported booting from 3tb drives / partitions. Then gigabyte found away with out using uefi *Bang Head :banghead:

Can old laptops support UEFI boot?

    laptop doesnt boot automatically

    This is what happened.

    1. Did a repair install and later disabled hibertnate in CMD.
    2. Enabled legacy option ROM in BIOS.
    3. After a few times startup ( i used the system in such mode for 5 days), changed boot option back to default.
    4. Vola!! It boots automatically to win10 without any keypress. Tested it with many starts to confirm the same.
    5. Re-enabled hibernate option using CMD and later selected Fast Startup.
    6. System booted normally, without the need for any keypress.

I do not know exactly whether such steps resolved the problem or what else happened, hence cannot suggest above steps.

Many thanks to all members who helped to troubleshoot problems.
