Windows 10: Notification Tones in Windows 10 after upgrade from win7?

I recently (10 days ago) completed an in-place upgrade from win7. It was surprisingly without real issues, only several niggly ones that have been sorted out. But there remains something 'missing'.

In win7, users got tones for various functions, like a USB stick plugged in, saving a file and so on.

In win10, there seems to be nothing like that useful 'process alert' available; these functions in win 10 are notably 'quiet'. I've looked in the settings for notifications et al, nothing seems to match.


Is there a way to configure Win10 to give similar alert tones for various functions as there was for win7

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

Stop Windows 10 Upgrade Notification:

To hide the Get Windows 10 app and stop notifications about the upgrade on your Windows 7 or 8.1 PC:

• Right-click (or press and hold) the Taskbar, then select
  Properties.
• On the Taskbar tab, select Customise… for the Notification area.
• In the Notification Area Icons window, for the GWX (Get Windows 10) icon, select
  Hide icon and notifications.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

• Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
• Try different keyboard or mouse.
• Restart computer, repeatedly.
• Google for related issues.
• Update Bios, because why not.
• Create boot media and revert to windows 7.

The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
