Windows 10: C:\users\[username] incorrect and its a issue when using a @hotmail account to sign in.

Hi all,


A while back on my desktop PC (old PC) some few years ago I mistakenly setup the account as "Lenar" instead of "Lenard" It didn't bother me but now it does only because I now use my Hotmail account to sign in rather than have a local/offline account


Now, recently I got a new laptop and I signed to use my Microsoft account and behold the incorrect name is shown C:\users\Lenar


What is the best way to correct this because I know of renaming the user profile and then deleting the user profile list key but this is for local/offline accounts.

How can I correct this to ensure that if I use another new machine (going to get a new gaming PC in a few months) that im not stuck with the incorrect user profile name and If there is a fix what can I do for the laptop that im currently using?

Username or password incorrect


I've previously run netplwiz from the command prompt to disable the sign in process in Windows 10.




Which worked fine in build 10049 but in 10158 & 10166 I now get this error message





I don't understand how this message can appear as no password has been entered at this stage.
Pressing OK, or waiting 2 minutes results in this screen





Entering the PIN or password from the sign-in option continues the login process.
Apart from starting again from scratch, any ideas on how to correct this.

The reason why getting a message "Other User. The username or password is incorrect" it can due to too many people using the Computer. This normally shows if you are sharing your computer with family members or friends. Windows 10 by default will list
every user account on the sign-in screen. However, there could be times when you may have some additional accounts that you don't want to be listed.

While the operating system doesn't offer an option to pick which user accounts appear on the sign-in screen, you can easily hide any user from being listed by modifying the registry.
