Windows 10: Using Windows 10 with multiple display KVM (Settings)

Hi All,


I have a Windows 10 machine that I use with multiple displays and also have a KVM switch so that I can alternate between my work and my home pc (while sharing monitors/keyboard/mouse). My problem is that I want to "save" multiple display settings so that I don't always have to manually adjust whenever I switch between the various modes (the KVM switch supports multiple modes). In Windows 10, I can't find a setting that will allow me to save the display settings that I like - can anyone confirm whether this is something Windows doesn't support (I know my work machine allows me to do that, but I think its through the graphics card provider (Intel) and not Windows. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Windows 10 issue with multiple monitors and KVM

The issue isn't getting the second monitor to work or continue working.

If the KVM is set to the Windows 10 and I have an application window open on the external monitor and I use the KVM to switch the external monitor to the Windows 7 system, when I switch back to the Windows 10 system, the application window that was displaying
on the external monitor is now displaying on the Laptop LCD.

• Are you facing this issue after updating to November 1511 update?
  • Actually until the day before yesterday, I hadn't been experiencing the issue - when I used the KVM to switch the external monitor to the other computer and then switched back the application windows were still displayed
    on the external monitor. Then day before yesterday when I rebooted, it reverted back to exhibiting the undesired behavior.
  • When I read your reply I investigated the November 1511 update which had NOT run on my computer. I have since manually installed the November 1511 update but it is still exhibiting the issue.
• What happens when you use Windows + P keys to extend the display?
  • Again, the problem isn't with the display extending - it does that just fine automatically.
  • However, when I have the external display selected in the KVM to the Windows 10 computer and have application windows open on the external display, if I use Windows + P and select PC Screen Only, the open applications
    windows that are open migrate to the laptop LCD and when I select Extend Display, the open application windows do NOT migrate back to the external monitor.
• Did you try updating the display drivers and check?
  • I am running the most current driver for my display adapter - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650

How to save a multiple displays settings?

You may want to answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

1. May I know the make and model of the PC?
   
2. Did you try updating your display driver?
   
3. Are you getting any error message?
   

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Steps 1:

1. Go to settings
   
2. Click on “System"
   
3. Then click on Display
   
4. Move your mouse to the monitor that needs to be set as primary and check the box
   "Make this my main display"
   
5. Under "Multiple displays" select "Duplicate these displays"
   
6. Then select “Keep this display settings”
   

Once you make these changes, you may restart the computer and check.
