  1. Group Policy Editor

I've Win 10 Pro, I had group policy editor until I update to 1909. Now Windows says it can't find it. I don't want to have to use either a pin or a password when I restart the machine. I had that configured in 1809 but updating to 1909, hung, so a Windows Advisor reinstalled an entirely new version of Windows, of course I had to reinstall all my apps and such, but since then I can't find a way to turn off the logon options and can't find gpedit.msc on the machine at all.

So, does anyone know a way to get that back, it's one of the reasons I upgraded to Pro so I could customize the machine more fully. There's only me here and I don't want it requiring either a password or a pin when it restarts. Thanks for any advice or help. :^) gene

    Hi Tony,

Group Policy Editor in Windows is a tool to help you manage policy settings. Here's how you can access the Local Group Policy Editor:

    • Press Win+R to open Run.
    • Type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.

Let us know how else we can help.

This notice appears each time the Group Policy editor is opened, and takes two clicks on OK to close.
    Simple steps to banish it?

Checked out this article, but was unable to rename the two files mentioned. I did delete them, however, and this removed the error message. What damage that did is ... to be discovered. ^_^ Files are in RECYCLE bin.

    GROUP POLICIES IN WINDOWS 10

You can change Group Policies by opening Group Policy Editor first. You can open it by following these steps:

    • Log in an administrator account. If you are already logged in as an administrator, proceed to step 2.
    • Press Windows + R to open Run.
    • Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.

After opening Group Policy Editor, you can now make the necessary changes that you want.

Should you have more concerns, feel free to post.

    Regards.
