Windows 10: Movies & TV | Changing the default '30 second skip' to 10 seconds?

Discus and support Movies & TV | Changing the default '30 second skip' to 10 seconds? in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; There is another thread asking this same question:... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Software and Apps' started by TylerDesormeaux, Dec 14, 2019.

  1. Movies & TV | Changing the default '30 second skip' to 10 seconds?

There is another thread asking this same question: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-windows/95e9a885-0ae9-42a1-b47d-42f2b42a8f1d

And this was the answer to the question to the thread that's now closed:

I wanted to inform you that the application is designed in such a way that by default it will Skip forward/backward by 30 seconds.

My problem is that I have almost 3 Terabytes of video footage that I'm trying to skim through as quickly and thoroughly as possible. And 30 seconds skips over too much that I may miss and want to cut out/edit.

So I was hoping to get a reply/solution for this. Maybe a way to go into the code of the program to tweak just the skip length OR maybe a different program I can use similar to Movies & TV/ Windows Media Player that would allow me to do this.

Any and all help is appreciated.

P.S. I like the Movies & TV app so would like to continue using it if that one feature can be added in there.

    M.L., Tyler

  3. Windows 10 Movies & TV App - change arrow key functionality

    Context:

In the Windows 10 "Movies & TV" program, when playing a video, hitting an arrow key does nothing by default. However, when the scrollbar under the video is selected, then arrow keys do have a functionality.

From experimentation with videos with different lengths, it seems that the right and left arrow keys, by default, skip forward or backward in the video by a length of time equal to 1/100 of the total length of the video. For example, a 50 minute video (3000 seconds) being played using the "Movies & TV" program would mean that pressing the right arrow key would move forward 30 seconds.

On YouTube, the arrow keys also only work when the scrollbar under the video is selected, but for YouTube videos, the right and left arrow keys correspond to jumps of 5 seconds forward or backward in the video being played, regardless of how long the video is.

I much prefer the 5 second increments, and there does not seem to be a built-in way to change how the arrow keys work in the settings menu of the "Movies & TV" program.

    My question:

Is there some way to change some configuration file for the Windows 10 "Movies & TV" program so that the arrow keys would go forwards or backwards by a fixed number of seconds, regardless of video length?

Or would it be possible to achieve this functionality using some kind of script running while I have "Movies & TV" open?

Or should I just download and use a different video playback software?

    Thank you in advance.

  4. Movies & TV | Changing the default '30 second skip' to 10 seconds?

Movies and TV app with Second Monitor

I just got a new Dell U2414H monitor and have it connected via my SP4 on .447 via DisplayPort to miniDisplay port cable.

I've noticed that the movies and tv app does not play well with dual screens.

Here is what happens to me:

if I have the setting set to extend on display and I open the movies and tv app on my dell monitor, it shows normal and I can use the screen on my surface pro 4 to do other things. However, the problem begins when I change the setting to display on ONE SCREEN
(either the monitor or surface screen, it does not matter). When I change the setting and close the movies and tv app, if I try to open it again, it opens successfully but the app seems to think the second screen is still connected. The video is playing as
I can hear the audio, and I can see the icon in the task bar, but when clicking on the icon in the task bar, you can see the animation as if it is going to the second display which IS connected but is off.

This is really irritating. The only way to "rectify" this is to windows key + tab and snap left/snap right on the movies and tv app.
