Not sure if this is new or if I just haven’t noticed before. But when I open task manager my CPU usage shows 100% for a split second before dropping back to normal levels. It seems to be task manager itself that is taking up all the cpu until it drops back down.

CPU 100% Before opening task manager and after opening it drops fast

You said 'before', but I believe you are speaking of the instant you open Task Manager (unless you are monitoring cpu use with

    another program). If so...

As long as the cpu drops quickly, there is nothing wrong with seeing 100% flash up immediately upon opening Task Manger.

This is normal. Mine does the same, and drops down to where should be relative to what is running (about 2% atm) within about 8 sec.

  3. Opening Task Manager Changes CPU Usage from 100% -> Normal (Windows 10). [SOLVED]

    >>> But that still doesn't explain why the processor is running at 100% before I open it.

well if task manager is CLOSED, how do you know it is at 100% ???

Then you OPEN it, and it instantly drops from 100% to normal 5%.

    HUH ???

That makes no sense. And opening Task Manager is not going to drop processor usage from 100% to normal just because Task Manager is now open.

The only way tis is possible, is if Task manager is corrupt. But I have never seen such a Thing on Thousands of PC's in 20 years.

  4. [Question] Is it normal for CPU to be at 100% and then drop down when opening task manager?

Opening Task Manager Changes CPU Usage from 100% -> Normal (Windows 10). [SOLVED]

yes, moving wireless mouse will cause little spikes too.

But never heard of or seen the usage at 100% and then open task manager and it drops to normal. Seems IMPOSSIBLE.

And I asked him, how does he know it is at 100% before he even opens task manager ??????????

That is the million dollar new question. And got no reply back!
