Display identically named computers in a Home network

    Hi folks

Is there any way to display identically named Windows computers on a Home network -- If I have 2 computers say named asgeir then only one appears in the network map even though both can logon and see other parts of the network.

By computer name I'm referring to the name specified say in WORKGROUP (not Domain members) and not the Computer description.

In fact it would be nice if the network map displayed computers by computer description - probably too much to ask though.

This won't normally happen on typical home networks but could if you have say a few people around and start getting say 8 / 9 or more machines on your LAN.

My only feeling here is somehow NETBIOS names or whatever are being used -- not sure where in the myriad of Windows networking parameters / reg edits / policy etc etc even where to START looking.

In the example below there should be TWO computers named WULF -- only one is visible. (IP addresses are assigned by DHCP so no problems with identical IP address trying to be assigned).

My computer's name is not displayed in file explorer Network group.

My computer's name (Office) does not appear in the local Network list.
It does appear on other computer's (XPS-Club) Network list.
Office is primary system in my profile.
XPS-Club is second system in my profile.

If I type \\Office in the Network Address bar, the name and associated shares is displayed in the local list.
However, the information is only shown for the current file explorer session.

Upon reviewing my original post, I realized I really hadn't asked for help. I know there are many threads similar to mine, both on this forum and in many other forums on the internet, but I have yet to find a solution for my particular situation.

So, I am asking the members of this forum for assistance in getting my Office computer to display itself in its own network group.

One computer cannot access other network computers.

So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:
    • Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
    • Ran a bunch of network commands:
      • flushed DNS
      • registered dns
      • pinged and located the named computers successfully
    • Reset my router to factory settings

Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

    Any thoughts?

    Network computers do not display

I have tried several web searches and have not found a solution that works. I am using Windows 10 and have 3 computers in the network group. I can manually enter the compute(s) name, "\\Robert Laptop", and see it, but I would prefer to have it automatically display. I would provide the different solutions I have tried, but I can't remember all of them. Any and all suggestions welcome!
