Windows 10: Windows is deleting files, and doing other weird things.

I had logged onto my laptop as normal, but it was taking a while and said "preparing windows" when I got on my background was gone, and I didn't think anything of it. Then I couldn't open google, or install it with microsoft edge. I ended up having to use internet explorer to download it again, even though it was still on there. I tried posting some images online, but all my files were gone, I do like to draw, and it was very upsetting to discover that all my drawings are just erased. I had everything fixed up and logged off the laptop for bed, but it happened again. Everything was erased as if I hadn't done anything the day before, its been two days of this and I'm very annoyed. So if there's any way to make this stop, I'd like to know.

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

 

Where do ati drivers go by default??

i shoulda stated, i went through the registries and deleted a bunch of strings as per Erockers thread showing step by step what to delet and from where. thanks mussles ill search the windows update files.

 

Cant Delete Files From Desktop

Well, ran into a weird bug with vista, for some reason i cant delete files from desktop, this normaly happens to .exe files, the ONLY fix seems to be to KILL explorer.exe, and delete the file, then restat explorer, anybody got any idea why this happens?
