  1. Windows 10-v1909 Network Printer Problems ... again

We are having issues printing from Windows 10 Pro-v1909 64b to a network-attached printer from multiple devices. Onevery device with printing issues, the following is true:

    • ENVIRONMENT:
      Windows 10 Pro v 1909
    • DRIVER:
      v4 Win 8-10
      06/21/2006 installed 01/14/2020
      10.0.18362.1 Microsoft
      Canon MF8300B Series UFRII LT
    • ISSUE:
      • Network printing Canon MF8350Cdn fails from some apps:
Mozilla Firefox crashes checked print queue — empty
Chrome crashes checked print queue — empty
Notepad crashes checked print queue — empty
Printer > Print Test Page crashes checked print queue — empty
      • Network printing works OK from some apps:
        MS Edge Legacy works
        Mozilla Thunderbird works
        Internet Explorer 11.x works
        QuickBooks works
        Primo PDF works
    • WORKAROUND:
      • In failing apps, print to PDF then print from PDF to networked printer.

So that's multiple devices from multiple manufacturers connected multiple ways all using the same printer driver and OS.

    1. If the printer driver was broken, we should not be able to print selectively;
    2. If the hardware was an issue, it should not happen over different makes of devices;
    3. If the LAN or WiFi was the issue, it should not occur the same way on devices connected different ways; and
    4. If the spooler is the issue it is apparently selective as the above-noted apps print fine.

    Any help gladly appreciated,

    UpTheCreek

    :)

Win 10 Network Printer Connection Problem

I have tried, when using the wifi from a Win 7 computer to connect to the printer connected to it. Others can connect.

I did do the three steps outlined:

    • Open File Explorer. Pick the "Network" icon from the left pane (navigation pane) of the file explorer UI.
    • If sharing is turned off you will see a pale yellow line towards the top of the window that states "Network Discovery is turned off. Network computers and devices are not visible. Click to change...".
    • Click this bar and select "Turn on network discovery and file sharing"

    None of the suggestion worked.

I did notice that the PC I'm connecting to is 'Private' while I am listed as 'Public'.

    • Can this be causing the problem?
    • Are there other suggestions?

I need to be connected to use the other printer so work flow can not be disrupted and someone else needs to print the file for me.

I will be with this group again on Monday.

    Thank you.

  4. Windows 10-v1909 Network Printer Problems ... again

windows 10 VERY slow when trying to open Devices & Printers?

Although I appreciate your offer for suggestions as you can see by the post dates, this thread is a bit long in the tooth. The issue was resolved with one of the updated builds of windows 10. Although in my opinion it's still not as fast as Windows 7, it's nowhere near as slow as it was in summer 2016 when I posted this issue.
