Windows 10: Restore Disk Created with Media Creation Tool Not Working

Windows stopped loading. Created recovery dvd using this procedure:

Changed UEFI settings to make DVD drive first boot option. Booted with DVD. After a longtime of "fixing" drives, Windows came back just like it was before. Went to settings to go back to UEFI to put those settings back, and then Windows would not restart.

I've retried having the PC boot to the DVD using the same recovery dvd and it keeps going back to the UEFI or the "Choose an Option" screen in Windows.

Other than resetting now, is there any way to recover Windows? Is the recovery dvd only good for one use? Once I get Windows back, how do I keep it once I set the UEFI back to boot for the HDD?

Media creation tool

Try this:

1. Run the command RecoveryDrive.exe on on some other Windows 10 PC. It will create a bootable flash disk. Do NOT copy the system files!
2. Boot the Asus PC with this disk.
3. Plug in the disk with the media creation tool.
4. Type E:\setup.exe and press Enter (assuming the the tool is visible on E.

Headache with Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and 0x80042405 - 0xA001A related error.

recently, I have searched about this error regarding the Media Creation Tool and USB pen drive creation but none of the
solutions found were good for me: reformatting USB drive to FAT32, start the media tool from the USB drive itself, disable USB Selective Suspend via Power Options, create am ISO image and use Rufus, and so on. My Microsoft Surface
didn't want to create a bootable USB: I've spend a week and will have tried 20 times at least. To my surprise, my old HP laptop did it at first time instead. Why ????? (At now I don't know).

My first step was to examine the setupact.log file that the Media Creation Tool has created: the error was from the CDIpActionLayoutUsb:repareUsbMedia which by the way did not appear in the other file (???). The
logic told me that the problem was in the pen drive format: partition, disk, volume ? In short, the Format command and the Disk Management tool didn't seem to work and after much test the solution was the DiskPart Windows tool. Here is how to insert it into
the procedure:

• Attach a formatted USB pen to the PC;
• Start the Media Creation Tool, do the all steps until the download of the files starts (You must select first the USB pen disk);
• And now the magic DiskPart tool:
  • start it;
  • By the LIST VOLUME command identifies the volume of the USB pen and remember the attached number;
  • Select it by the SELECT VOLUME <number>
    ;
  • Now use the command CLEAN
  • Enjoy the end;

I don't know why, by this last command permits the Media Creation Tool to complete and create the bootable USB pen correctly. I've tried the procedure 3 times and all works well.
