I'm using a slideshow wallpaper and I can't get the wallpapers to change every 10 sec, 1 min is the lowest I can go. Were the 10 sec and 30 sec options removed or are they hidden elsewhere?

1 Day Desktop Background Slideshow Not Working

    • To be clear, I am NOT talking about the screensaver settings found in Power Settings!
    • I have set Background Slideshow to 'Change picture every' 1 Day.
    • I can go a week without it changing automatically.

    1. I have done some tests with settings of 1 minute or 10 minutes, then sleeping (not hibernating) the computer for various amount of time.
    2. The results show that the background changes, in general, at the next full 1 minute or 10 minutes clock cycle. (e.g. If I use 10 minutes then sleep for 5 minutes, return from sleep, the background does not change in 5 minutes. It doesn't even change in the next 10 minutes.)
    3. If I set the timer for 1 minute, sleep for 30 seconds, the change is done on a full minute clock time (i.e. if I set the time at 13:21:15 and wake at 13:21:45, the change will occur at 13:23:00. A full 75 seconds after coming out of sleep.

OK, Enough! If the above behavior is as designed, how can I alternately change the background once a day? Using a daily Scheduled Task to 'tickle' the Slideshow would be the best, because it would allow me to use the settings for picture folder and fit so I can keep working within my Windows Theme.

    Thanks, Jim

    background slideshow times

Zachd, this totally works, thank you.

I run a completely clean desktop and have really liked the slideshow feature in the last few versions of Windows. Got screwed up in Win10 in two ways, first that minimum time is 1 minute instead of 10 seconds and second no shuffle feature. Running the old
control panel interface allows me to control both once again.

Windows 10 LockScreen (IOT) slideshow - Spotlight

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Lock screen can be set to slideshow with the help of the steps below on every Windows normal version, you can try the same steps on your Windows 10 (IOT).

    1. To change the lock screen to slideshow, you can go to
Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
    2. From the Background drop down option, select
      Slideshow.
    3. Click on Add a folder and select the image folder you have.

To change the Slide time to 6 seconds, you can make the changes from the registry.

    1. Open registry navigate to
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Lock Screen

    2. Right click on the Right pane and create a new
      Dword(32-bit) Value key.
    3. Name it SlideshowDuration Double click set the value to 6000 which is 6 seconds.

I would also suggest you to post your query on
    TechNet
for better resolution on this issue, if the steps above doesn’t help.

    Hope it helps.
