Windows 10: Monitor/Screen Flickering or Flashing on Windows 10 Pro because of Visual C++...

I have a dual 4k monitor setup with Windows 10 Pro on Intel NUC10i7FNH with 64GB RAM and 1TB NVMe drive. After multiple re-installs of Windows 10 I have finally figured out that Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable x64 and x86 package 14.24.28127 is causing screens to flicker. Every time install VMware Workstation Pro or VMware Workstation Player it automatically installs Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable x64 and x86 packages and those packages cause issues.


I have rebuilt my NUC with fresh Windows 10 Pro install and ran for about 4 days and then went to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads to download Visual C++ Redistributable packages and as soon as I install VC_redist.x64.exe and VC_redist.x86.exe my monitors start flickering or flashing and one of them goes into sleep mode. Does anyone have any solution to this problem or experienced this problem before?

Screen flickers on Windows 10 machine


I have two monitors on my Windows 10 machine, both of which flicker every time Windows changes the wallpaper. If I'm engaged in some kind of I/O operation, like entering data, the flicker always disrupts what I'm doing.

Steps I've taken already, based on internet articles I've read:

• Updated video card driver
• Disabled two Windows services:

(1) Problem Reports and Solutions
(2) Windows Error Reporting Service
I also read that the iCloud application can cause flickering, but I don't have that app installed. Some video tutorials recommend uninstalling Microsoft Visual C++, but I have quite a few (23) installations of Visual C++, starting with with a 2005 version through a 2017 version. There are obviously many installed apps depending on these installations, and I am extremely reluctant to uninstall every app on my system one by one just to determine which might be causing this problem.

I haven't made any changes on my device. This screen flickering is only happening in Safe Mode.
