Windows 10: File explorer shows the same image for any file selected.

I open File explorer and with the preview pane enabled I see an image for the first usually a video file file I select. If I then navigate and select a different file I can still only see the image from the first file I selected.


It appears to be with Windows media player set as the default because if I switch to VLC player this problem goes away but I do not always want VLC Player to play these files.


Have seen numerous posts for clearing thumbnailcache_16 via the CMD prompt admin but when I try to clear these I cannot access many of them. It does not appear to cure this specific problem.

File Explorer toolbar

Hi,

In Windows 10, Details pane allows the user to view the details of a file in File Explorer. However, it only allow users to modify the Date taken information of the file. If you want to modify other settings of a file, you can right-click on it and then
choose Properties.

To be able to view the Details pane in File Explorer, follow these steps:

• Open File Explorer.
• Click on View tab.
• Select Details pane. It will show at the right side of the File Explorer window.

Unable to see Images in explorer when selecting files through apps


When I go to upload an image to a website, to load an image into gimp, or really anything that has to do with me opening a file in explorer through a non Microsoft application.. I only see the file names and not the images!

In the normal file explorer I can see Images fine, but when using explorer from a website or application when trying to upload / download, I cannot see images.

Here I have listed 3 Images.

...and the files showing up properly in file explorer...



Quite obviously, this is extremely annoying *Banghead ..
and if anybody has a solution to this problem I would be extremely grateful.

If Date Modified doesn't show on the options when you choose Sort by, we suggest that you perform this steps:

• In File Explorer, select the folder you want to have changes with.
• Right-click and select Sort by.
• Select More, then check if the Date modified option has a check mark.
• Click OK, then try to perform again the steps provided by Acelyn Alc.
