Transferring Windows license, did I violate terms?

Hello, so here is my situation. Previously I had a Dell Alienware x51, that came with Windows 7 Home installed on it, but Windows 8 was just released around this time so I had my Uncle upgrade it to Windows 8 back in like 2012, which I then upgraded to Windows 10 for free later. I then moved it into a new case and upgraded the GPU. Recently I bought a new Motherboard, CPU, and RAM and installed them. My Windows was un-activated because of the motherboard upgrade. I typed in the license key that was on a sticker on the back of the Alienware and it worked just fine on the new motherboard. I thought nothing of it until I started researching about Windows licenses yesterday and I found out what I did may have violated some terms, which is the LAST thing I wanted to do.

I just followed this tutorial https://www.howtogeek.com/124286/how-to-uninstall-your-windows-product-key-before-you-sell-your-pc/ to uninstall the license and my Windows 10 is now un-activated. I want to know if I did violate any terms and if I am okay now that I uninstalled the license? I really don't want to get in any trouble with Microsoft or have my account terminated/banned.

    Thank you for any help.

    Update:

I went to sleep, and when I woke up and turned on my PC, it says it's activated with a digital license linked to my Microsoft account. I used slmgr /dli to show me information on the license and the partial product key listed is different from the one on the Alienware. I took a picture of the slmgr /dli last night before I uninstalled it and it is the same partial key as the one I have now. I assume what happened was when my Uncle upgraded to Windows 8 he used a retail license for it which is the license I have now.

    :)

  2. Intel to Call on AMD, to Discuss Possible License Violations

I can't see Intel getting anywhere in regards to x86 with the acquisition of ATI but Intel definitely has something on AMD's creating The Foundry Company. The rights to x86 aren't transferable yet AMD has transferred them. I'd say it's a definitive violation of the license agreement so AMD best be prepared to pony up for a second license in addition to penalties for violating the license. It doesn't bode well for AMD at all.

Intel to Call on AMD, to Discuss Possible License Violations

Being that they were transferred to private child companies, it is a gray area.

Transferring Windows license, did I violate terms?

    License Transfer question

So I found this on the MS website.

Add Windows 8.1 Pro Pack or Windows 8.1 Media Center Pack to your edition of Windows 8.1

    • Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.)
    • Enter add features in the search box, and then tap or click Settings.
    • Tap or click Add features to Windows 8.1 and then do one of the following:
      • If you need to purchase a product key, tap or click I want to buy a product key online.
Follow the steps to purchase and enter a product key.
      • If you already have a product key, tap or click I already have a product key.
    • Enter your product key and click Next.
    • Read the license terms, select the check box to accept the license terms, and then click Add features.

Would this be the way to do it? And would it matter that this would be the US version and not UK?

      Thanks
      Conor
