  1. Windows 10 reset causes c drive to be inaccessible

I used the media creation tool to reset and reinstall Windows 10 hoping that it would fix problems with Windows Updates. Windows update errors were 0x80070005 and 0x80010108. I have tried many suggestions on the internet to fix the errors preventing me from updating. So then I decided to reset Windows 10, deleting personal files and apps. The reset was successful, but Windows updates still could not install updates and still gave me the same errors.

Problems: Cannot access my c drive.

    Windows updates not working.

System Restore does not work. Gives and error saying System Restore could not start.

Troubleshooting. Says Windows Online troubleshooting is not enabled for this version of Windows.

Currently using an administrative account with no access to c drive.

It is a Windows 10 Home 1909. I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 12/14/2019. Even back then Windows Updates never worked and gave errors. The only way I could install updates was to use Microsoft’s Windows Update Catalogue. Windows updates were fine on Windows 7. This computer is probably from 2007, but it ran Windows 10 fine and could still run programs I ran on Windows 7 as well. I am not worried about lost personal files or apps, just want the computer back in order with Windows updates working.

Windows 10 reset causes c drive to be inaccessible

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
