Windows 10: Windows 10 Cumulative Updates installation issues

Back in November 2019 my PC managed to successfully install an update for Windows 10 version 1909.


Then after that, the following update 2019-10 Cumulative Update tells me the PC needs to be restarted to finish installing the update. I have restarted my PC hundreds of times but it's still not installing.

Then after that all the successive cumulative updates fail to install, giving meerror code 0x80073712.


I have tried a few different solutions I came across, but none of them have worked for me.

I ran a troubleshooting scan and it says there are no issues.

I cleaned the Software Distribution folder of all software updates and blocked the automatic updates, and then unblocked them.

I downloaded the updates from the Microsoft website and tried to install them manually, but still the error occurs.


How can I solve this once and for all?

Anyone else having problems getting the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) installed? This update has been failing for me & doing a failed to update after downloading & reboot, then rebooting & removing the update.

V 10.0 build 10240

Maybe try with the Windows update mini-tool, found here http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/t...dows-10-automatic-updates-and-spyware.218745/ , thanks to Mussels. it installed perfectly for me last night.

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP
