  1. wifi

    I have a hp computer with Windows 10. I use Microsoft Edge as my browser. My computer is about 2 years old and is refurbished. My cable provider is Comcast. I am having a particular problem with the internet and hope someone can help. I have been with numerous techs at xfinity and nobody has been able to help. My problem is getting on the internet and getting my wifi to work. The same thing happens when I either wake it up or open from being shut off. As soon as I open my pc, the icon that is shaped like a globe in the tray on the bottom, stays that way till after about 5 minutes. As a rule, I am then able to get on the internet. Sometimes it won't work and I have to go into my networks and disconnect and reconnect to make it work. My speed over all is okay, average download 75.0 and upload average around 10.0. I have reset my computer and wifi and so has comcast but to no avail. I have checked and rechecked my connections and they seem fine. I have virus protection, so I don't think this is an issue. Sorry to make this so long but I couldn't help it. Hope someone can help.

    :)

    Windows 10 wifi not turning on Acer Aspire laptop

    In order to get the list of available wireless networks, you have to:

    1. Switch on Connect to suggested open hotspots (see the screenshot in question);
    2. Click on Wifi icon in the right corner. Now you have your networks back.

    After that the parameter from Step 1 can be turned off, networks will be listed normally after restarting Wifi.

    P.S. I feel rather stupid at the moment. I thought that open hotspots are passwordless hotspots and so are presumably not very safe. So of course I've turned that off during installation.
    Really hard to see any logic in this case.
