Windows 10: Restore Points keep disappearing

Hello Everyone,

I've read some other threads here about system restore points missing or being deleted - but I haven't noticed an accepted solution or possible troubleshooting tips that have helped.

I have a new Dell Inspiron (see specs under avatar) that I purchased 3 weeks ago, and I've just noticed that any restore points I created have been deleted - usually in a matter of just a few hours at most.
I did a test again this evening and created a restore point at 2:28pm. When I checked at 7:02pm, it was still there.
When I checked later at 10:50pm, after clicking on the system restore tab within the app, it came back saying "no system restore points have been created".

After looking through the Event Viewer>system log, I see an entry at 8:03pm, an Event ID 95 - source Volsnap, saying "The oldest shadow copy of volume C: was deleted to allow shadow copies created afterward and marked for delete to be deleted."
I'm out of my league on this but did Google it and it "seems" like there could be a correlation here - unless I've misunderstood what I read.
Also I saw Event ID 754 "The Block Level Backup Engine service has stopped" - and am wondering it that bears on my problem.

Please, if anyone can post back to comment with any help/suggestions/"fixes" - it would be much appreciated.
I'm experienced with Win7, but not Win10. I'm in the process of installing my favorite programs and apps and also customizing settings. So in the course of doing this, I'm making restore points in case something messes up.
I also depend upon restore points to help in the event of a bad "Patch Tuesday" update.
Everyone in the Win7 forums I've posted to in the past have helped me with my Win7 problems. I'm hoping that someone in this forum can also help me out.

Disappearing Restore Points

I have provided 59GB for the Restore Points.

And I have created one Restore Point that used up less than 200MB of the space provided.

Yet after a few days, it disappeared.

This keeps happening many times because I created them just to check whether they disappear like the rest.

They do.

And just in case anyone is curious whether I have enabled System Protection, the answer is that I have.

My understanding of how Restore Points work is that as more and more Restore Points are created and the spaced provided is squeezed, the older ones will be deleted to make space for the new ones.

This is a very logical step.

But as can be seen above I have 59GB while the Restore Points created came to less then 200MB!!!!

I think that the whole argument is becoming more and more futile.

By right Microsoft must do something to ensure that the Restore Points are not deleted in any way.

But so far, they have either passed the bug back to the users by suggesting all sorts of programming by the user to solve the problem or better still staying invisible!!!

Do you know what?

Not everyone is a programmer and if you screw up, you don't even have the Restore Point to save you!

Which is what the Restore Point is there in the first place!

I hope that users will wake up to the fact the Microsoft is passing the bug back to THEM!!!!

I suggest that users in the US awaken the top hierachy in Microsoft to the deplorable state of affairs in their company!!!

 

System Restore Point Disappeared

Performed all steps you recommended. It didn’t help. Created restore point disappeared in about half an hour. The following message appeared: “No restore points have been created on your computer system drive”.

 

Losing restore points

Word Man-I realize the restore point storage. I can create up to 6 restore points that will display. If I create anymore, then the oldest at the bottom of the list gets bumped off and the new one goes to the top of the list.
