Windows 10: HELP! Win 10 freezes in normal mode except when playing Civ 6

Guys, I am at my wit's end. My system keeps freezing minutes after booting into Win 10 Pro. This freezing only happened recently, around 2 weeks. Previously worked perfectly for more than half a year.

The super strange thing about it, is that when I play Civilization 6, it will NOT freeze. So weird! Also works fine in Safe Mode. In my desperation, I even Reset my Windows, but it still freezes after reset even before I reinstall any other software.

I am willing to replace hardware if I knew which one is at fault. I have changed my mouse, keyboard, USB hub, removed my network cable, none of which solve the problem. Please help!

System specs: Ryzen 5 2600，16GB RAM, MSI B450M, NVidia GTX 1070, Win 10 Pro v1903 18362.592

Civ 4 on Windows 10

I have civ 5 and it plays fine on win 10 but civ4 every time I try to play it says re-log in as admin privlage I don't have that setting on my private comp at home I'm the only user so the prob is win 10 it always played fine before Geeksquad couldn't
make it work either!

 

Civ IV on latest update of W10

A corrupted data may cause your game not to install properly. We would
suggest that you freeze all future updates and try to install Civ IV.

 

Windows 10 Compatibility - Civ III

Just figured out this issue my self.... sadly it has to do with securom or other similar products not working in windows 10. (This is due to their inherent vulnerabilities and so while it sucks I applaud Microsoft's choice to no longer support them.)

The fix for it is to get a no-cd patch/crack from one of the various sources out there. I'm having to do this with a lot of my games.

**Be advised** so far as I know this fix will ONLY work for those with the actual CDs for the game. Those with digital downloads from sites like Steam and others will have to find another work around. **

Step 1: Make sure your game is updated to the latest version.

Example: Civ III, Conquests is 1.22.

Step 2: Go forth to google and do a search for No-cd patch Civ III.

Step 3: Download the correct one for your updated game.

Step 4: Replace existing .exe file with the new one.

Step 5: Run the game in XP SP3 compatibility with 640 x 480 screen res, and run as administrator.

Step 6: Play endless hours, cause its still a great game. (And I hate the releases that came after.)
