Windows 10: Automatic Optimization of PC Hard Drives.

For some reason, I am not sure why, my automatic optimization of the Hard Drives on my PC no longer works. I can optimize manually but the automatic feature no longer works. When I check it, the feature indicates that the optimization has never run even when I have optimized the drive the previous day. Is there something I have done to cause this? Can I correct this to allow the automatic feature to function?

As always any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Optime Drive - Doesn't Recognize External Hard Drive

When I Select "Defragment and Optimize Drives" my external USB 3.0 hard drive is not among the drives listed that can be analyzed or optimized. The reply to another similar post suggested reading and following the recommendations in a separate
article "Optimize Windows for better performance" which I did but found no useful information there. Any other suggestions
or alternatives?

I suggest you to use Administrator account to perform Optimization and check if it helps.

I suggest you to follow the steps below.

• 
  Go to Search, type services.msc and hit Enter
  
• 
  Make sure that following services are set to Automatic:
  
• 
  Remote Procedure Call (RPC).
  
• 
  DCOM Server Process Launcher.
  
• 
  RPC Endpoint Mapper.

Hard Disk Drive (HDD) seen as Solid State Drive in Optimize Drives

Which hard drive is an external and internal?

Did you checked the hard drive is visible when you go to This PC?

I suggest you to type diskmgmt.msc in the start search and hit enter.

Check if you can see both hard drives.

You may also uninstall and then reconnect the external hard drive and check.

This method resolves issues where the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or corrupt.

• Click Start, type Device Manager in the Search
  box
• Click Device Manager from the returned list.
• Click Disk Drives from the list of hardware
• Right-click the USB external hard drive with the issue, and click Uninstall.
• After the hard drive is uninstalled, unplug the USB cable.
• Wait for 1 minute and then reconnect the USB cable. The driver should automatically load
• Check for the USB drive in Windows Explorer.
