  1. 1703 upgrade to 1709 and higher without re-imaging

We have several computers that we cannot re-image due to software that was provided with the original image on 1703 and installable copies of the software were not provided. We need to upgrade 25 computers and are not authorized to re-image them unless they fail.

Possible to upgrade w10 Pro 1703 to 1709 instead of 1803?

Note that assuming you need to have 1709, then if you wish to not upgrade to 1803 then either
    - if you have Pro you can defer this for 365 days
    - or you must take special action - before 1803 starts to download- to hide the upgrade.

    Further:
    This could suggest:
    - Windows update is broken or disabled on that PC
    - MS does not deem it fit to run 1709, so never offered it
    - it has been trying to upgrade to 1709 but repeatedly failing (you can check its Update History)

  3. Documentation for moving enterprise from 1703 to 1709 without online

Is there a documented strategy for moving from 1703 to 1709 ?

I am aware of the following options

    • Upgrade via DVD/USB with 1709 media or Media Creation Tool
    • Update Assistant
    • Windows update as a service
Are there any offline utilities (beside MDT / SCCM) to push 1709 to devices?

    Thanks,

1703 upgrade to 1709 and higher without re-imaging

    Updating from 1703 to 1709

Make image backup of 1703, then install 1803 - it is rather pointless going to 1709 if 1803 works fine. If it does not, then restore 1703 and try 1709 at that point.
