Windows 10: Not able to move data from my smartphone via usb

When I connect my android smartphone to my laptop via USB cable I am able to view the storage and files in the phone but I am not able to move data from my phone to my laptop because it is showing the error "A device attached to the system is not functioning."

Please provide a solution.

I'd recommend you to try using a different USB cable with it and see if that will help your system to detect it without it disconnecting.
I'd also suggest you to go to Disk Management and see how the drive is listed there. It won't hurt to check up on the health and SMART status of the HDD by running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics. Linley, the steps I outlined above were for a Motorola Q. I just took my "Q" and listed the steps as I went through the process. Are you not able to do that on your smartphone or do you have to edit after it is created?
