  1. Can we CompactGUI a boot drive, and have it boot fine?

So.. there is this "compact /compactos" feature which supposedly compresses windows system files with xpress4k automatically, which is the worst of the new compression schemes.

I would like to try out LZX compression, which is a pretty hardcore compression that seems to only be available with CompactGUI. I assume I can't compress files already in use.. so...

If I plugged my windows boot drive into another windows PC, and then ran CompactGUI with LZX compression on all the folders on it... Once I plug my drive back in... it should boot.. right?... lol

    Can't boot from DVD drive

Is your controller in RAID/AHCI modes? If so, the DVD drive will be listed as a separate device in the list of available boot devices, not as "CDROM". Remember that when setting boot device priority. Otherwise, read the manual to see which hotkey during POST brings up the boot menu that lets you select which device to boot from. Even here, the drive will be listed separately, and not as "CDROM".

No it doesnt show. Only my OS drive.

Its there and it says it running and normal.

Anyway I just had the same boot problem on reboot. Everything was fine 10 minutes ago. Now it wont boot without my manually selecting the drive.

Can we CompactGUI a boot drive, and have it boot fine?

    Windows Booting beep!!

Check the boot order in the BIOS also, it might not have the hard drive as primary in the boot list.
