  1. High Definition Audio Controller not recognised in device manager

Hi, I reinstalled my windows recently and I don't have any sound from my motherboard. I can connect my speakers to my monitor, which uses the Nvidia High Definition Audio, but that's not what I need.

When I plug my speakers/headset into my pc front or back panel, nothing happens. I checked the device manager and as expected, the Realtek High Definition Audio Controller isn't there, only in System Devices where 2 of them show and one has a yellow exclamation sign on it.

I tried reinstalling the audio software didn't work, tried reinstalling the chipset drivers didn't work, tried updating the drivers in System Devices didn't work. I have also deleted the Controllers from System Devices and rebooting but it didn't change my problem.

Anyone know what it can be, please help me...

  3. AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In

    John,

Thanks for your suggestion, but the sound playback device was greyed out again this morning and reads: "AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In".

Once again, uninstalling AMD High Definition Audio Device and deleting the driver in the Device Manager and rebooting brought the sound device back.

    Any other ideas?

High Definition Audio Device drivers missing

    Hi Davide

The High Definition Audio drivers are built into Windows already

Right click that device in Device Manager, choose 'Update Driver

Then choose 'Browse my computer for Driver Software' - 'Let me pick from a list of available drivers'

If you do not see the default High Definition Audio device, untick 'Show Compatible Hardware'

On the left, select Microsoft, then on the right scroll down to find 'High Definition Audio Device Version 10.0. . . . .
